Product Review: Arctic Zero Fit Frozen Dessert

November 29, 2023

I happened to stumble on the Arctic Zero Fit frozen desserts in the ice cream isle while searching for Halo Top ice cream. As someone who is constantly on the lookout for healthy dessert options, I decided to switch from my usual Halo Top ice cream purchase and instead opted to try a few of Arctic Zero’s flavors.

Arctic Zero has a pretty decent selection of ice cream flavors. Not nearly as many as Halo Top or Talenti but the ones that they do offer are popular staples and solid choices. This brand of ice cream also boasts a low calorie per serving, some of which go as low as a mere 35 calories per serving (a serving being a half cup). This means that a whole pint of their ice cream is as low as 150 calories! An entire pint, can you believe it?

Artic Zero Frozen Dessert Lactose Free GMO Free Fat Free ice Cream

So why such few calories? Taking a look at the list of ingredients, the company’s ice cream uses whey protein, monk fruit sugar, and chicory root among other ingredients. The company prides in its lactose free, gluten free and GMO free ice cream selection.

Because their ice cream selections are lactose free, the milk goes through a special refining process to eliminate most of the lactase enzymes (a type of sugar found in milk. Hench, their ice cream really doesn’t contain any milk. Read here for more info on how lactose free milk is made), they contain fewer calories and grams of fat and sugar, while containing at least 3 grams of protein from it’s use in whey.

Another beneficial thing about Arctic Zero products is their mix of soluble and insoluble fiber. Insoluble fiber is especially helpful in keeping one’s digestive system on track and regular and while helping to aid constipation.

Now that we’ve discussed some of the key ingredients of Arctic Zero products, lets switch over to the reviews. I’d like to start off by saying that if you’re looking for a Ben & Jerry’s alternative, you’re really not going to get that with Arctic Zero products. That’s like comparing apples to oranges. Ben & Jerry’s will always have a sweet spot (pun intended) in my heart – their products tend to be much creamier and have a good selection of mix-in flavors (Cherry Garcia, anyone? ;] ). Plus, they’re made with actual milk.

I’d give this a sold 3 out of 5 stars and the reason being is that I thought this was a bit too chocolaty tasting for me. I was hoping to taste a bit more of the cookie (whatever type of cookie they were aiming for), but was a bit disappointed. Overall, it’s a decent dessert and will probably go really well paired with a just-out-of-the-oven, soft cookie….and whipped cream 😀

Cake Batter

This tasted more like vanilla bean mixed with cake to me, but it was still pretty good considering no milk’s involved. Obviously I ate half the pint when ‘trying’ this bad boy out and didn’t feel guilty one bit doing so. It also tastes better after placing in the microwave for 20 seconds. I’d give this a 4 out of 5 stars.

Chocolate Peanut Butter

Their Chocolate Peanut Butter flavor isn’t too bad. I’d give this a 4 out of 5 stars. It actually does taste like peanut butter (although, in my opinion, the chocolate flavor was more prominent) and tastes even better after popping it in the microwave for 30 seconds (which they recommend you do as written on the carton). Pretty creamy texture considering no milk’s used.

Salted Caramel

This one is definitely my favorite of the batch I’ve tried. It certainly tastes like salted caramel (more like caramel actually, but who cares…I love caramel!) and is surprisingly creamy after taking it out of the microwave. I’d give this a 5 out of 5 stars for sure.

Brownie Blast

I was very disappointed with this flavor. It’s too bad as I was really looking forward to this one because I love anything brownie or fudge. The Brownie Blast is actually 75 calories per serving because it’s one of their mix-in flavors (they include small chunks of brownie). But, unfortunately their need to add in the brownie pieces probably resulted in them reducing ingredients in their main mix. It tasted very watered down and not creamy at all. Even after taking it out of the microwave I could still taste the small clumps of ice. Super disappointed. I’m giving this one a 2 out of 5 stars only because I did like that they added the chunks of brownie. But overall, not worth it personally for me and I’ll very likely not purchase this flavor again.

The reviews are my own and I was not influenced by anyone or any company to write these. I was simply interested in Arctic Zero’s ice cream desserts and figured I’d share my thoughts on them to the internet. Thanks!
